TASTING NOTES: Solid bouquet of ripe
plum, currants, dried herbs as well as baking spices and smoked tobacco,
graphite, and leather. Rich, mouth-filling ripe fruit with creamy berries,
chocolate, and that classic cashmere texture we all love from this estate. A
firm and focused, age-worthy style. Showing great concentration and complexity that
will continue to evolve and benefit from a few years of cellar aging. Another
beautiful mountain gem from the estate at VIADER. Drink over the next 15+
years. Age for at least 5 years to reach its peak drinking window.
71% Cabernet Sauvignon & 29% Cabernet Franc
Owen Bargreen (98 pts)
A stunning blend of 71%
Cabernet Sauvignon with the remainder Cabernet Franc, this is a world-class
wine that needs about two hours in the decanter to get going. Once aroused,
this offers a melange of anise, tobacco leaf, dark florals and dense dark fruits
with a graphite edge on the nose. The palate is velvety and plush with a firm
tannic and acid backbone. Layers of gorgeous black and blue fruits greet you
with espresso grounds, loam/rocky soils and shades of Middle Eastern spices.
While decadent and heady in its youth, this can benefit from some time in the
cellar. Try to resist this beauty for another year or so. Drink 2025-2050- 98 points
