TASTING NOTES: The aromatics of this wine immediately jump out of the glass. It starts with floral notes of cherry blossoms and lavender, continuing with rich, ripe berries, white pepper and tea. The palate is graced with soft tannins, and supple layers of fruit lifted by great acidity. Gentle oak influence accentuates notes of coffee, caramel, chocolate and baking spices. Fresh fruit flavors take the lead on the palate with complex layers of blackberries, raspberries, cassis and plums. The long pleasant finish recalls black fruits, and the Syrah adds an attractive component of cured meats and minerality with a dusting of cocoa. Very approachable. Drink now with decanting or hold 5-8 years.

Lisa Perotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: Wow—this firecracker lets rip with an almighty nose of chocolate-covered cherries, cassis, blueberry compote and minted raspberries with touches of licorice, cigar box, under brush and lilacs. Full-bodied, opulently fruited and totally seductive in the mouth, the generous black and blue fruit layers are superbly framed by ripe, grainy tannins and supported by compelling freshness, finishing with a persistent spicy kick. Jeb Dunnuck: The 2016 Red Blend Black Label has a complex bouquet of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, chocolate and crushed rocks. This carries to a wonderfully complex, elegent blend that has full-bodied richness, ripe, present tannins and a focused, classic style. It's going to evolve for 20-25 years or more.. (96+ points)
